2008 Summer Camp Programs

Space Camp
Complete a 5 day mission using technology and simulator experiences to successfully navigate a series of space science challenges - right here in Cincinnati!
Each camper will:

- Build and launch their own rockets
- Design and build their own Mars Rover then run it on our Mars Landscape, through series of "planet challenges"
- Build a telescope
- Control high-powered telescopes around the world to explore planets, galaxies, nebulae and much more from personal computers
- Receive his/her own Mission Card with direct access to observatories around the world.
Grade Levels: 2 Age groups: 9-10 and 11-13
Date & Time: June 16 - 20 ; 9 am- noon.
Length: 5 days
Cost: $195/week Some scholarships available.

LEGO Camps
- Create and construct models of towers, buildings, machines of all kinds that really work.
- Apply math and science to real world situations.
- Develop critical thinking and problem solving.
- Build self-esteem.
An end of the week exhibition of each child or team's work, as well as their picture, appearing on our website, will be fun for all.
Crazy Action Contraption
Participants will build DaVinci machines and the wildest working contraptions to compete in coliseum type games. From catapults to football launchers, siege machines, ping pong poppers, and spaghetti choppers to racing machines. Defend the fortress and compete in your own warrior games.
Grade Level: Gr. 3-5

Robotics I Camp
This program provides the basics of mechanical engineering to design a variety of working robots and their accessories. Teams will build working models, and will experiment with flying monkeys, mars rovers, and sumo wrestler competitions.
Grade Levels: Grade 4 - 8
Date & Time: June 23 - 27 ; 9 am- noon.
Length: 5 days

Robotics II Camp
(Camper must have completed Robotics I).
This week-long program gives campers the opportunity to build two different robots using RCX chip technology. Students will learn to program during this camp.
Grade Levels: Grade 4 and up
Date & Time: July 14 - 18; 9:00am - noon

Robotics III Camp
(Camper must have completed Robotics II).
Campers expand their programming skills using RCX chip technology. Students design their own unigue robots and program for a multi-obstacle course with various "tricks".
Grade Levels: Grade 4 and up
Date & Time: July 14 - 18; 9:00am - noon
Cost: $195/week
Architecture Camp
Enjoy learning the principles of architecture using modeling and engineering techniques. Design and build a tall tower strong enough to hold a dictionary! Build an earthquake proof structure and a building from antiquity.
Grade Levels: Grade 3 and up
Date & Time: August 4 - 8; 9 am- noon.

Young Builders I
Young Builders Camp helps the younger child develop coordination, cooperation, and good direction following habits. Students build a tall tower, construct a model of a carnival machine, and make a spin art machine. A fun camp for the young designer and builder.
Grade Levels: Kindergarten through Grade 2
Date & Time: July 7 - 11; 9:00 - noon
ADDED WEEK: July 14 - 18; 1-4 pm

Advanced Young Builders
Children will build a variety of creatures,machines and extraordinary characters which have a variety of uses, The possibilities are endless.
Grade Levels: Gr. 1-3
Date & Time: July 28 - Aug 1; 9:00am - noon FULL
ADDED WEEK: July 14 - 18; 1-4 pm

Animal Robots
Campers will learn to build robots using a kit that they can take home at the end of the session.
Grade Levels: Gr. 4 - 6
Date & Time: July 21 - 25; 9:00am - noon
Cost: $195/week

Learner's Edge Academic Camps
Enroll your child in our Monday - Thursday Academic program where you can pick the week, the time, and even the subjects that they take. Subjects offered in the areas of Math, Reading, and Science. This is a multi-week program and you can sign up for 1 week, 2 weeks or more - whatever fits your schedule and your child's needs! Come for one hour a day, or the entire morning! Call and speak with our teaching staff to create a customized program.
Dates & Times: June 9 - August 8; 9:00am - noon (Closed week of June 30-July 4)
Schedule for one hour (or more) each day. Monday - Thursday; 9 -10 am, 10 -11 am, 11 am -noon. Pick your weeks and time slot
Cost: $60/week for 4 hours up to $150/week for 12 hours of instruction
Enroll your child in our math skill development program which uses strategies that are fun and engaging for the child to apply and learn new basic math skills. Our program is filled with mysterious magic tricks, exciting games, puzzles, and riddles. On the last day of camp there will be a magic show for the families of our campers starring our Math maniacs. This multi-week camp is for kids with a range of different needs. Campers will be organized by age and skill level for their optimal learning experiences.
Grade Levels: 1 and up
Date & Time: June 9 - August 8; 9:00am - noon (Closed week of June 30-July 4)
Scheduled for one hour each day. Tuesdays & Thursdays; 9 -10 am, 10 -11 am, 11 am -noon. Pick your weeks and time slot

Summer Reading Adventures Program

This excellent reading program equips students with the skills to learn to read well, easily and quickly, achieve at a remarkable rate, and increase their comprehension and vocabulary - all in a few short weeks! Give your child a head start this summer.

- Now low-level readers can learn to read high-level books with ease!
- Comprehension and Vocabulary Increase.
- Students Become Highly Motivated To Read.
