Drake Planetarium Public Programs
(Times - 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.)
We offer a monthly program for the general public. These programs have a specific theme for the evening as well as a period for investigating the seasonal constellations and planets.
Public programs are held the third Sunday and the fourth Thursday of each month. November's program is "MarsQuest".

Our MarsQuest program features striking photos of Mars -- as seen in the night sky, through binoculars and telescopes, and from our Mars explorations. You will also learn recent information on the Red Planet obtained from the new Mars landers.
Program narrated by Patrick Stewart, Captain Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek.

Drake Planetarium is open for the public one evening a month, offering fascinating glimpses into the wonderful world of astronomy and space science. Each monthly program is divided into two parts:

The first section covers a particular topic of interest, for example, the Mars Lander, asteroids and near Earth collisions, the International Space Station, and the like.

The second part is always an introduction into the nighttime sky. Each person is given a free sky chart.
After learning how to use it, they are then taught to recognize the major constellations and planets visible at that season of the year
