Drake Planetarium's hands-on science center has prepared special programs for Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts, as well as children in grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Our instructors will lead your troop through activities which are required for earning badges related to the field of astronomy. Cub Scouts can earn their Astronomy pin while Boy Scouts will complete four of the requirements for earning their merit badge (2, 4, 8 & 9). These activities include learning to use a star map, finding seasonal & circumpolar constellations, identification of directions using both the sun and other celestial objects, planet identification, moon phases and other space related concepts. This program is held at Drake Planetarium.
